Wastewater Operator A 6
SUMMARY: The position of MS-WWTO may be required to perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to, operation of wastewater analysis laboratory; operation and maintenance of wastewater collection system; operation and maintenance of wastewater pre-treatment system; operation and maintenance of wastewater full treatment system; or operation and maintenance of any other type of water or wastewater treatment system. Activities may include, but are not limited to: collecting samples for analysis in accordance with EPA, state and/or health departments regulations; performing a variety of chemical analysis (both in and out of a laboratory setting); making system adjustments based on interpretation of results from chemical analysis; making educated decisions on maintaining regulatory compliance; performing mathematical calculations utilizing basic algebraic formulas and a calculator; completing computerized reports; compiling information andcorrectly completing monthly reports as required by permits, state authority, EPA or corporate management; utilization of basic organizational skills, basic mechanical skills, basic electrical wiring skills; proper communication of currentoperational status to upper management; maintaining operations logs, performing minor to major maintenance on equipment; operation of a spotter tuck and/or a fork lift; physically lifting of heavy objects (50-75 pounds); climbing and/or descending stairs or ladders; grounds keeping; painting; general house keeping; working in unsanitary conditions; working with hazardous chemicals; and obtaining/maintaining HAZ-MAT training. REQUIREMENTS: Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Must obtain the lowest wastewater certification offered by the state in which the facility is located within twelve (12) months of hire into the position. Must successfully complete Industrial waste treatment, Volume 1 and Industrial waste treatment Volume II Correspondence courses through California State University Sacramento within the same twelve months. Experience: Previous experience preferred but not required.
