Wastewater Operator B 6 – 3rd shift
SUMMARY: The position of MS-WWTO may be required to perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to operation of wastewater analysis laboratory, wastewater collection system, wastewater pre-treatment system, wastewater full treatment system or operation and maintenance of any other type of water or wastewater treatment system. Activities may include: collecting samples for analysis in accordance with EPA, state and/or health departments regulations; performing a variety of chemical analysis (both in and out of a laboratory setting); making system adjustments based on interpretation of results from chemical analysis; making educated decisions on maintaining regulatory compliance; performing mathematical calculations utilizing basic algebraic formulas and a calculator; completing computerized reports, compiling information and correctly completing monthly reports as required by permits, state authority, EPA or corporate management; proper communication of current operational status to upper management, maintaining operations logs, performing maintenance on equipment; operation of a spotter tuck and/or a fork lift; grounds keeping, painting, general housekeeping; other duties as required. REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: 1 + years Wastewater experience (preferred). Computer Skills: Basic computer skills with knowledge in Word and Excel. Communication Skills: Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical. Certification: Must successfully complete a storm water training program selected by site management within thirty days; must also successfully complete “Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume I” and “Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume II” correspondence courses through California State University Sacramento within twelve months, and must obtain lowest grade certification program within twelve months or in accordance with State regulations; must obtain and maintain HAZ-MAT training. Physical REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift heavy objects (50-75 pounds), climb and/or descend stairs or ladders. Environmental: Work with hazardous chemicals and in unsanitary conditions. Special Skills: Strong organizational skills; basic mechanical and electrical wiring skills.
