Wisconsin International Agribusiness Bureau Director
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) currently has an opening for the Wisconsin International Agribusiness Bureau Director (official title: Administrative Manager) in the Division of Agricultural Development. We are located in the Prairie Oaks State Office Building situated on Madison s southeast side and nestled atop a beautifully wooded and scenic hilltop venue. We are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations. Position Summary: This position oversees and directs program planning, development, and implementation of the Wisconsin International Agribusiness Center programs and policies of state, federal, and international concern, including setting Bureau program goals and objectives and measuring results. The position makes recommendations for the enactment of legislation or initiatives related to economic development priorities issued through the Governor's office. The position is also responsible for policy development, external funding oversight, and budget management and analysis pertaining to Bureau operations. The position serves as a key member of the management team, providing supervision, building and supporting team cohesion, and aligning staff responsibilities with the Division s strategic direction. The position has significant responsibilities related to market development outreach activities such as participating in public forums, providing informational and technical materials to businesses regarding program opportunities, and attending legislative sessions. As a state expert on international market development, this position represents the department in contacts with other state agencies, federal agencies, the Governor's office, industry, the Legislature, Congress and the public. The position also performs professional work related to developing international trade and marketing strategies and relationship to promote Wisconsin business development efforts. Qualifications: Minimally qualified candidates must describe experience and/or education relevant to the following qualifications in order to be considered further: A. Experience in International trade, marketing and/or business development in roles such as sales, or product development for an organization with international reach or partners in other countries. B. A minimum of five years of experience managing and supervising multiple staff. (e.g. participating in recruitment and selection process, scheduling/delegating work assignments, conducting performance evaluations, developing staff training objectives and professional development, handling employment relations matters, etc.) C. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of agricultural products with importance in Wisconsin (such as dairy, genetics, livestock, specialty crops, etc.) D. Experience and skill in policy analysis, development and implementation (e.g., participation on or leading a policy or program team, drafting policy, recommending policy or changes, etc.) E. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, etc.) The most qualified candidates will also describe experience in the following areas: A. Extensive experience (10 years or more) working in the agricultural industry B. Professional experience supervising a team with diverse interests and priorities, while maximizing team cohesion to achieve business needs and goals. C.
