Come join us on ourjourney to create solutions for a sustainable future WorkforceDevelopment Manager (1902719) ?Geismar, LA Where theChemistry Happens We are seeking aWorkforce Development Manager for our Geismar, Louisiana site at 8404 River Road, Geismar, LA 70734,the largest of the corporation's North American manufacturing locations. TheGeismar site includes 26 plants that manufacture many different products,including urethanes, chemical intermediates and surfactants. The Workforce Development Manager will be responsible forleading and enhancing workforce development efforts targeted in Louisiana toattract top, diverse talent to Geismar site ? the largest BASF manufacturingsite in North America. Reporting to the Human Resources and CommunicationsDirector at Geismar, the role will establish and maintain strong relationshipswith local and state government officials in Louisiana, such as heads of statedepartments, school superintendents, university and community collegestaff. The role will develop and deliver strategies and operationalactivities aimed at positioning BASF as the best place to work. You will use your skills andeducation to: Lead workforce development strategy for Louisiana
to attract and retain top, diverse talent in the region for both exempt
and non-exempt positions.
Manage support of STEM Education Specialist.
Develop and implement workforce development and
science education programs that inspire local talent to pursue careers in
Partner with school and community leaders in
Louisiana to enhance career and technical education awareness and the BASF
Partner with school and community leaders in
Louisiana to attract, develop and retain women and minorities in
manufacturing including operator, instrumentation/electrical and
maintenance roles. Lead site efforts to create common requirements
and improved hiring collaboration for manufacturing jobs at Geismar.
Represent the Geismar site on regional
organizational boards and committees that coincide and support and advance
BASF?s workforce development strategy.
Promote employee engagement through coordination
of BASF employee resource groups activities and community involvement.
Coordinate with team to promote integrated
solutions to attract and retain talent at the site. Qualifications Bachelor?s degree in Communications, Business or
related field 8+ years of relevant experience
Experience working in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge and experience in communications,
community and school relations, and workforce development. Experience working within the chemical industry
and related community, non-profit and civic organizations.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suites
(Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Ability to work with all levels within the
organization. Flexibility to work on multiple projects in a
fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Must be a proactive self-starter with exceptional
interpersonal and organizational skills; Must be able to develop and
maintain beneficial and aligned relationships with internal and external
stakeholders, including BASF employees and management, and external
community stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal skills for effective
communication and the ability to facilitate individual and small group
